About Us

Rebuilding Villages One Community at a Time

TCPSE started as a project to enhance the lives of Black men by breaking the stigma surrounding mental health wellness, but quickly grew to so much more. As more families began to be impacted by the cascading effects of untreated mental illness, and more community partners (including barbers, stylists, beauty professionals, stakeholders, businesses, social services organizations, etc) began to come together, we quickly realized that our purpose and assignment was so much bigger. We were called to bridge the gap between communities and trusted partners who have the much-needed resources to rebuild hope, promote empowerment and rebuild the sense of togetherness we have relied on for generations.

Our method, programming, and culture is deeply rooted in our “potluck” theory. We believe that if a group of people have the same mindset, mission and vision anything can and will be accomplished. If each person and/or organization is aware of what they bring to the table for the meal, every family and/or community can leave the table full. No one group has the burden of feeding a community alone. Through the efforts of many, we can change the world for the better.

Our top four programs include our Hairapy Coalition, Navigation and Care Coordination, Money Mastery II Financial Wellness, and TEC Youth Empowerment Program.

Our Model

Our promise to our community partners is to promote mental, physical, and financial wellness and connect people with resources right where they are.  We partner with vetted organizations in the community to provide mental, physical and financial health and wellness resources. In addition, we have programming and resources that address factors that have a direct impact on the communities we serve.  Our leadership takes a close look at the social determinants of health that contribute to unhealthy behaviors and align ourselves with partners who work diligently to erase health and economic disparities.

Awareness

-We raise awareness about pressing issues and health concerns in communities of color while addressing the social determinants of health that cause a negative impact on  underserved and under resourced communities.

– We bring members of the  community together to address pressing issues and create sustainable solutions for those who struggle with mental, physical and financial health challenges, face health disparities and inequalities and have limited access to viable and vetted resources.

-We find, highlight and if necessary create community resources while creating accessibility and fostering utilization.

We flourish in organizing communities where people come together to create positive change in their local neighborhoods or larger communities.

Advocacy

We use advocacy as an effective strategy for addressing the social determinants of health.

-We train partners to be seen, speak up, and show up.

-We empower partners with knowledge and how to effectively use acquired knowledge to bring about change.

-We encourage partners to raise awareness and represent the needs of themselves and others.

-We train partners to advocate socially, politically, and economically.

Action

TCPSE utilizes its influence and power to transform neighborhoods and cities by bringing people together to work for the common good. With our community stakeholders:

-We create sustainable solutions and implement those changes.

-We monitor, evaluate and adjust programming to ensure positive and impactful outcomes within communities.

-We listen to our community stakeholders and partners.

-With the collaboration of community members, stakeholders, and local authorities, we address pressing issues and rebuild villages one community at a time.
